Best of 2008- Part 2 Final Show for 2008!
Well well well, it has come down to this, it is our last show for 2008! Man has the year totally gone or what!
This week on the show will be our top 25 Urban Tracks for the year! These are compiled from our Phat 22's and Katie's Phat 5's throughout the course of the year. All I can say is that 2008 has been a great year for Urban Music and as the new year looms, it will be interesting to find out exactly what 2009 brings. Best of 2008 Part 1
Well can you believe that it has come to that time of year again where we are farewelling one year and welcoming in a new one? We can't! This time of year is such a magical time, with Christmas on the way and then the new years parties on top of that, so much to organise, so little time.
Anyway this week on the show is our best of 2008 part 1 special! This is where we play the top 50 Urban songs that made Phat Music in 2008. This week will be 50 to 26 and then next week will be our top 25 songs for the year!
So how this has come about is throughout the year we had our Phat 22's and Katie's Phat 5's, well those songs are tallied according to position in those countdowns and therefore those points are tallied to make the final countdown. So in this case in the Phat 22 Number one is 22 points and so on and with Katie's Phat 5, Number one is 5 points and so on. Hope that's clear.
We are very excited to bring you the music that made 2008 and even more excited about the music that will embrace us in the new year. We will also be sampling some new music from Bliss N Eso.

This week with last weeks results
Last week on Phat Music saw our first Phat Battle. Here are the results of the three battles. In the first battle Fergie vs Beyonce, Beyonce took the cake with 60% of the vote. In the second battle 50 Cent vs Eminem, 50 Cent came ahead with 68% of the vote, mainly due to the fact that Eminem hasn't had anything out for a while. The third battle saw Hilltop Hoods came up trumps still a favourite with 62% of the vote. If you missed the first Phat Battle we will have another Phat Battle soon!

Time for a battle!
For all those who follow AFL will know that this Saturday is the AFL Grand Final where the two best teams will battle to see who is the AFL Premiers! All I can say is GO CATS!
Anyway we thought that in keeping with the theme of a battle, this week is our first Phat Battle. Ok for all those wondering, we have three battles for you and what happens is each of the artists have three songs each and there is two artists in each battle. Some of these artists have something in common and they are battling it out to see who is better as voted by you! The three battles we have for you this time is:

He definately was the best wasn't he?
For this week is a whole show dedicated to the life and works of the best rapper ever to live (well that's my opinion but a lot of people share it), I'm talking about none other than the late great Tupac Shakur whose 12 year anniversary of his death is this Saturday the 13th September.
This genious was only 25 when he was gunned down after a Mike Tyson fight in Las Vegas in 1996, and had already released numerous albums and had plenty in waiting for future works. Cut down in his prime, but the legacy, his music and memory still live on and will continue to live on for generations to come.
We are dedicating the whole show to playing his music in memory of someone who has inspired numerous artists of today and continue to do so for aspiring artists coming through, not only in Australia, but all over the world. Not only are we playing the music of his career, but we are updating you on the continued works and legacy of Tupac Shakur and much much more! There is also our special dedication to someone who has inspired us to start and continue Phat Music.
There is so much to fit into this show because this dedication comes around once a year to mark the passing of someone that is so much ahead of the rest. Phat 22 for September
Yes it is that time of month again and now it's time for the Phat 22 countdown, our monthly top countdown. And as usual it is a bumper show! The top 5 I can say is really close so your vote is oh so important.

Some people may or may not know that the ABC is looking at taking over our frequency at 94.7 FM which has been The Pulse for around 7 years now. At the moment The Pulse is on a stronger frequency that being 56KW and if we had to change to 91.9FM that will mean our transmittion will be 3KW. You do the math! That totally sucks! Community Radio has a hard enough time of getting heard in in area where the big boys dominate, having the ABC coming onto the frequency will mean that this will be lost! The ABC already comes into Geelong through the AM band, do we need that same stuff coming in on 94.FM when it can be loudly heard on the AM band. It's rediculous isn't it?! If you disapprove, you can help The Pulse stay at 94.7. Go to www.acma.gov.au and voice your disapproval now and help us stay at 94.7! So that shows like Phat Music can stay phat!

Yeah I love these shows!
I love it when we go back into time and we play songs from years gone by, it brings back so much memories. This week we are going back to 1996. Yes that year we did loose in my book the best rapper ever, the one and only Tupac Shakur, but there were some awesome artists and songs to come out of that year. We'll hear a track from Toni Braxton which was my first CD I ever bought, there will also be something new (well it was at the time) from Coolio and one from the late great Tupac as we lost him that year. Over the next 2 weeks...
We will be spinning in full the new (we think so) album from DJ Nino Brown which is his Blazin 2008 CD! This week 8/2/08 will be CD 1 and the next week 15/2/08 will be the rest of the CD.
Of course we at Phat Music has spoken to Nino and we can tell you he's a awesome DJ who is giving of his time, we have also had the honor of meeting him in person at a gig in GTown.
It seems as if every year he churns out a new Blazin CD and this one would have to be the best one yet. There are heaps of artists which you know and some you soon will know.

Australians all let us rejoice......
Yes it's that time every year when we celebrate all things all Aussie.....well just about. This week on Phat Music is our Australian Urban special to celebrate Australia's national day....Australia Day! This is a time of year where us as Australians can be proud of being an Aussie, just like any country in the world.
Australia has some awesome Urban artists, some which are celebrated, some that need to be and hasn't yet because they are very underrated or undiscovered.

Ok a recap...
On last week's show, we had our Phat Mixxer and shall I say it was a mixture of songs, party songs to bring in 2008. Oh and a little late than never.......HAPPY NEW YEAR!
